Nine representatives from local businesses helped kick-off farm Credit Canada's annual 'Drive Away Hunger' campaign September 15, 2011 by taking part in a pie-eating contest. The event, taking place at PalmLite, helped raise $4,886.33 for local food bank Southeast Helping Hands.
Last year, F.C.C raised 1.7 million pounds of food through 'Drive Away Hunger' and the total is over 5.4 million pounds from southeast Manitoba over the past four years. They're shooting for another million pounds raised across Canada this year, but given how the totals have gotten bigger every year, there's no reason they can't surpass that goal.

The F.C.C. 'Drive Away Hunger' Manitoba tour will take place in the communities of Steinbach, Morden, Brandon, Portage la Prairie and Dauphin. They are also accepting cash and food donations in every field office across Canada from September 19th to October 14th to help reduce hunger nationwide.
